We believe that the strength of any franchise operation lies in the strength of its leaders. In our case, the Toppazzini brothers, Keith and Kelly have been at the forefront of the franchise since its inception. Together, they lead a team of “excellent people”—bright, energetic professionals who are anxious to grow with Topper’s Pizza.

Keith Toppazzini, CO-CEO

Keith began his career with Topper’s Pizza in 1982 focusing on store operations; he jointly operated the first location along with his father, Ron Toppazzini. After completing his studies, Keith returned to the family business in 1985 and spearheaded operational excellence within the pizzerias. Continuing to excel in all areas of the business, Keith drove execution of operations and quality standards within the franchise system. Keith was instrumental in formulating the franchise expansion plan and today coaches his team to continued success. Keith is extremely active in the community and within the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA), Rotary Club, Canadian Association of Family Enterprises (CAFE) and the International Franchise Association (IFA).

Kelly Toppazzini, CO-CEO

Kelly joined the Topper’s team part time in 1982, and became full time in 1985 after earning his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University. He has held many positions within the organization including Director of Computer and Phone Services, Franchise Director, Director of Finance and now CO-CEO. He and his brother Keith presently are responsible for the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning of the Topper’s Pizza brand. Kelly has been actively engaged in the line of business associated with the franchise for nearly 30 years, including participation in the CFA, CAFE and IFA.

Jeff Dillon, Executive Vice President

Jeff Dillon has been responsible for creating and executing a national growth strategy and leading an organization that delivers operations excellence, driving sales and profitability, customer focus and brand leadership. Jeff has over 25 years of experience ranging from Franchisee, Field Consultant, Director and Executive Vice President level responsibilities. Jeff has gained experience with some of the most respected and successful brands worldwide including Brinker International, Timothy’s World Coffee, Group LeDuff and Domino’s Pizza.
Jeff’s strong background in operational excellence and franchise development have allowed him to elevate brands to the top of their category in over 10 countries and Topper’s Pizza is no exception. In the role of Executive Vice President, Jeff intends to take Topper’s Pizza through their biggest growth phase in the company’s 33 year history and will see the chain surpass 100 Pizzerias in 2018.

Emaan Toppazzini, Director of Menu Innovation

In the beginning, Emaan started working at Topper’s pizza part time just to help out in the family business while attending University. Upon graduating, she decided she wanted to commit all of her time to Topper’s Pizza and its development. Emaan has now been with the company for over 25 years; she has worked as a Manager, Regional Supervisor and Marketing Director. For the last 10 years she has focused her time on Product Development. She loves cooking and experimenting with food and spices and has created many of Topper’s pizza recipes and sauces.

Todd Sattler, Director of Franchise Development

Todd has recently joined the Topper’s Pizza Team, bringing over 15 years of Foodservice and Quick Service Restaurant experience in areas such as Store Operations, Marketing, Category Management, Procurement and Franchise Development. Having worked with global brands such as Alimentation Couche-Tard (Mac’s Convenience), Unilever Canada, and Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Todd possesses relevant and extensive experience to assist the Topper’s Pizza brand grow to new heights!

Today, Todd works along all new Topper’s Franchise Partners as the company Liaison, assisting from initial inquiry to opening day, with a focus on Business Development, Construction and Real Estate.

Shelley Speal, Director of Operations

Shelley brings to the Topper’s Pizza team more than 20 years of experience exclusively in the restaurant industry. Her roles have been diverse over her career, with experience in Franchise Consulting, Operations, Training, Project Management, Sales & Labour, Purchasing and Product Development.

Karen Trottola, Director of Marketing and Communications

Karen joined the Topper’s Pizza team in 2014 and brings with her 15 years of marketing, e-commerce, social media, promotional & communication experience, primarily within the foodservice sector. Having worked with established brands such as Prime Restaurants, Boston Pizza International Inc. and Compass Group Canada, she has a diverse skillset which includes the development of marketing & promotional strategies, project management, public relations, development of e-commerce & social media programs, as well as sales and data analysis. In her role as Director of Marketing and Communications with Topper’s, she is responsible for overall Brand Management, Digital and Printed Media Management, Campaign Development, Corporate Communications and Local Marketing Programs.
